It became a family affair for Team Woods at the PNC Championship in Orlando, when 16-year-old Sam Woods joined her famous dad, Tiger Woods, on the course. Sam served as Caddie for her father, while her brother, Charlie, competed with Dad in the tournament which teams a pro player with a family member to compete for prizes. Having other family members caddy is quite popular at this tournament, with wives, daughters, sons and close friends assisting the other competitors.
Of course our first thought was the Caddie Hall of Fame which highlights the traditions and importance of caddying. The inductee list is pretty impressive!
Some chose to serve as caddies their entire lives, playing a critical role for the golfers they worked with.
Many built on their experiences as a young caddie when they turned pro. Notable members of the Caddie Hall of Fame include Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Gene Sarazen. Surprising members include Investment Expert Charles Schwab, Comedian Tom Dreesen, and Olympic Organizer Peter Ueberroth. George Lucas is in the Caddie Hall of Fame, though not the George Lucas you’d think.
